The PD Facilitates the Executive Development Series Module VI
The Personnel Department’s, Human Resource Management Compliance and Training Division (HRMCTD), recently concluded a revolutionary Performance Management Appraisal System (PMAS) workshop for sixty (60) Deputy Permanent Secretaries (DPSs), Deputy Heads of Departments and other public officers including the Chief Administrator, Tobago House of Assembly and the Permanent Secretary, Central Administrative Services, Tobago over the period December 10 to 12, 2024.
The main objective of the workshop was to enhance the current and future performance, as well as the effectiveness of DPSs and other high level Public Sector executives as transformational leaders in an evolving Public Services by providing them with the relevant and appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities to drive public service transformation in their respective Ministries/Departments/Agencies.
The vibrant and well-informed sessions, led by Mrs. Sherma Edwards-Joefield, head of the HRMCTD covered key aspects of performance management including the critical need to link individual performance to organizational performance and ultimately to the National Government Policy - Good Governance and Service Excellence in an effort to have strong, high performing professional “Centres of Excellence”; building Stronger Performance Management with SMART-ER Goals, Setting Clear Performance Expectations; Providing Necessary Resources and Support; Regular Feedback and Coaching and Performance Improvement Plans and Recognizing and Rewarding Achievement.
This training initiative represents a significant step forward in promoting accountability, efficiency, and compliance at the highest levels of leadership by equipping senior officers with the essential tools and knowledge to efficiently oversee the PMAS. This one-of-a-kind initiative aims to drive continuous improvement within the Public Service, ultimately strengthening governance and enhancing service delivery.
